Description

A cream colored Gulf Coast fleece-in-the-grease. This is a soft, fine, crimpy fleece that would be good for combing and hand spinning.

  • Gulf Coast Wool
  • Approx. 3.9 pounds.
  • Staple length is approximately 3.5 inches.
  • We shear our own sheep here at Sand Hill Thicket.
  • This is Tzatziki’s 2026 fleece.

PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT coat our sheep, but we do make an effort to feed them on the ground, rather than overhead, during the winter. You will find some hay and straw in the fleece, which should come out easily during the scouring, flicking, and combing processes. At shearing, I skirt to remove any dags, burs, belly and leg wool, and wool with large amounts of hair mixed in. I tend to leave britch/hip wool, even if slightly felted, because I charge a flat price.
