Well, it has finally happened – I ordered a spinning wheel! My father was so kind to add some birthday moolahs to my piggy bank, making the purchase of a spinning wheel possible. I am very grateful! Thank you.
The wheel is an Ashford Kiwi 2 from The Woolery. They also sent me a free Kromski niddy noddy and 8 oz. of combed top to play with. Very nice!
This is a bit of an experiment, you see. I’m hooked to this whole thing from the producer end of things; I love sheep first. However, I do love to crochet, and nothing would seem more cool than to crochet with yarn from my own flock! I’m just not sure yet if I will have the time to devote to this whole process.
Yet, I can’t seem to get my mind off of learning and seeing if I might get addicted. I’ve been very inspired by one of my new friends who purchased a fleece from me and turned it into a masterpiece! Time will tell if my short, fat fingers can ever be near as skilled as her deft, slender fingers!
Meanwhile, the wheel is currently unfinished and unassembled. I am working to stain and seal all of the parts first prior to assembling it. Fun DIY crafts! I’m sure I will understand the anatomy of a spinning wheel very well after this project!
