The gourds are growing! This year I’ve actually planted some gourd seeds in the right place at the right time! I’m so excited to see if they will bring forth fruit!
I’ve planted them in the most fertile place possible – in the ewe’s winter paddock, which has two growing ram lambs in it at the moment. There is an area right outside the stall door where I normally feed and it’s basically mulched with a few weeds. The gourds have just taken off!
They’re quite jurassic in size and have already set some wee baby gourds. How did they accomplish this you ask? With the help of bumblebees!
I like bumblebees more than honeybees for some reason. I think it’s because they are so impossible and I actually see way more bumblebees than honeybees on any given day, so I feel like they’re harder at work!
