Merry Christmas – Blogmas Day 24

Wishing you and your family a safe and healthy Christmas filled with good food, conversation, peace, and relaxation!

Divinity & Thumbprint Cookies – Blogmas Day 22

I've been busy making candy, kumquat pies, and cookies like crazy for the neighbors and coworkers. (I'm also behind on blogmas as I'm sure you've noticed!) I've never made divinity before, much less remember ever consuming any, so I have... Continue Reading →

Winter Solstice & Holiday Doldrums – Blogmas Day 21

Today is the Solstice, which means we are in the backstretch! I'm thrilled about longer days and more sunshine! Solar powered here. I love it when the planet starts tilting back towards the sun again. Spring is also just around... Continue Reading →

Kumquats! – Blogmas Day 13

Oh I am SOOOO excited for kumquats! The Husband has spoiled me absolutely rotten with a shipment of kumquats from the town (the kumquat capital of the world) in Florida we used to live in. We really miss going to... Continue Reading →

O Christmas Tree & Kittens – Blogmas Day 10

Yes, I agree, this is happening a little late, but it's still earlier than last year! Yes, I learned my lesson this year. Normally we get our tree by the first or second weekend of December, but I'm learning that,... Continue Reading →

Christmas Village vs. Nativity – Blogmas Day 8

Everyone is different. It takes all sorts, that's for sure! Sometimes people change, too. When I was little, I had a little glowy, ceramic Christmas Village of my own that I would set up for Christmas. I had a bakery,... Continue Reading →

Holiday Birthdays – Blogmas Day 7

As some of you may know, it is difficult to have a holiday birthday. If you're NOT lucky, people wrap your presents in Christmas wrapping paper and also give you significantly less presents or presents that are supposed to double... Continue Reading →

The Ducks’ Christmas Cookies – Blogmas Day 5

So, I think I DO have three French hens (ducks)! I collected 6 duck eggs this morning! The duck eggs are OUT OF CONTROL around here. I cannot believe how prolific ducks are in December. I must have three hens...... Continue Reading →

How to Hang Christmas Lights in 12 Steps (When You Really Don’t Want To) – Blogmas Day 4

I will now share some advice given to me by my sage mother on how to get started hanging Christmas lights, when you really don't want to. There are a couple of prerequisites first: 1) play Christmas music loud enough... Continue Reading →

Christmas Music – Blogmas Day 2

Christmas music is a must! Confession: I started listening before Thanksgiving... In my opinion, one MUST listen to Christmas music to stay properly focused during the season. Whether it's acoustic, modern, traditional, religious, acapella, etc., it doesn't matter. I've constantly... Continue Reading →

Preparing the Hot Chocolate Bar – Blogmas Day 1

OooooOoohh, shall we do Blogmas this year?! I say, yes! Well, today I hit one last sale for Christmas decor and it's time to put my back into decorating for Christmas. We will probably go tree hunting this coming weekend.... Continue Reading →

Homemade Gifts

It's only 52 days until Christmas! This year I am endeavoring to make homemade gifts for as many of my family members and friends as possible. It's like Santa's workshop around here. There's wool, cat hair, and paint everywhere. I... Continue Reading →

Merry Christmas Eve!

We've decorated with sheep this year... Merry Christmas!

Slow Food & Air Fryers

Okay, I'm opinionated about instant pots and air fryers. I'm anti-instant pot, but I'm on my way to being converted to an air fryer believer. (The jury is still out until I've attempted egg rolls in the air fryer.) I will note that I would never have purchased an air fryer, but I did receive one as a Christmas gift from my kitchen-gadget-loving mother.

Merry Christmas!

Black Friday

Typically, anything I'm looking for isn't even on sale, and anything I'm looking for most likely can't be purchased locally either. I also like avoiding indoor and outdoor traffic, fist fights in parking lots, and the flu.

It’s a Tradition: Smoked Salmon

I love smoked salmon at Christmas...by itself, on crackers or toast, for breakfast or lunch, even with green eggs, Sam, I am.

A Barn For Christmas!

(This is not just a picture of a potty. This is a picture of the future site of my new barn!) The sheep get a barn for Christmas! And the horse, too. It's a pretty good present for me as well! I'm starting to get excited.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Good food, family, and not taking things for granted.

Another Year…

ahhhh! I feel how this nutcracker rider looks!

Christmas Candy Making

Well, I've gone and done it again; I've made a new tradition or two.  This year I really wanted to try a bunch of new recipes and make them my own, and so far two of them are really big hits!  I have more to make, but I've already made rum/bourbon balls and pumpkin seed brittle.

It’s Almost Christmas…

It's that time of the year again!  Well, it's been that time of year again for a while now.  See, I'm normally way behind this time of the year, but THIS year - I'm actually keeping up. I've decided I'm going to start a new tradition, because I like those types of things.  I'm going to make sure I do one Christmas activity each day until Christmas Day.
